London comes third in the world in this year’s TripAdvisor Traveller’s Choice Destinations Awards – just pipped to the post by Paris and New York City which take first and second place respectively. The Awards honour the top destinations in the world, as decided by millions of travellers.
Angus Struthers, TripAdvisor spokesperson, commented: “These awards honour the world’s best destinations as decided by those judges that really matter – travellers themselves. Now that the Jubilympics are over, it’s vital that UK tourism continues to flourish so it’s great news that London is rated so highly among the world’s and Europe’s best destinations.”

“We are delighted to hear that London remains in the top rankings of the TripAdvisor Travellers’ Choice Destinations Awards. These are crucial awards for us as they are voted for directly by visitors. The Olympic and Paralympic Games and the Diamond Jubilee were all brilliant moments for London to shine in 2012 and the magic continues here in the UK capital for 2013. Major events such as the reopening of the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in July, the anniversary of the Queen’s Coronation, along with our world-class music concerts and sporting events will give even more reason for visitors to return to London in the years to come.”
Travellers worldwide love the North West
With more winners than any other region, the North West of England is clearly shining in the eyes of visitors, as Manchester (2nd), Liverpool (4th) and Blackpool (6th) are all highlighted in the UK’s Top 10 destinations.
Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland each have one top ten finisher in this year’s list: Glasgow in third, Belfast in fifth and Llandudno ninth.
