The Good Food Guide, the UK’s bestselling restaurant guide, has today announced the ten regional winners in its Readers’ Restaurant of the Year 2014 awards.
The annual awards invite members of the public to nominate their favourite restaurants, pubs and cafés from around the UK. Ten winning restaurants from around the country are being announced at this stage, and one restaurant will go on to be crowned The Good Food Guide Readers’ Restaurant of the Year 2014.
39,000 nominations
The awards always garner tens of thousands of entries and are an insightful gauge of where UK foodies love to eat out. This year’s awards saw an impressive 39,000 nominations received, which have all been verified by The Good Food Guide judges in order to select this year’s winners, each of whom represent some of the best dining experiences on offer around the country.
The ten regional winners this year are:
EAST – The Leaping Hare, Stanton, Suffolk
LONDON – Boqueria Tapas, Brixton
MIDLANDS – Turners, Birmingham
NORTH EAST – Eric’s Restaurant, Huddersfield

Elizabeth Carter, Consultant Editor of The Good Food Guide, commented: ‘These ten winners are all first-class local eateries and should be praised for doing what they are doing so well – congratulations to all of them. With such a strong bunch of regional champions, choosing the overall winner of The Good Food Guide Readers’ Restaurant of the Year 2014 is going to be tougher than ever.’
To qualify for these esteemed awards, aimed at championing local neighbourhood eateries, restaurants needed to be independently run and offer regional or local produce where possible. These ten regional winners have been announced based on the most nominations received coupled with the establishments being of a high enough standard to be in The Good Food Guide, as judged by the editors.
Of the ten regional winners from around the UK, one will go on to be named as the overall The Good Food Guide Readers’ Restaurant of the Year at an awards ceremony in central London in June.
All ten regional winners will appear in The Good Food Guide 2014 which publishes on 9th September 2013.
