The first quarter of 2013 has seen the culmination of a three-year £40 million investment programme in the portfolio of 24 Park Inn by Radisson hotels in the UK and Ireland – the biggest investment in the brand since its launch in 2004 – as well as the addition of the Park Inn by Radisson Glasgow City Centre.
Transformed hotels
From the lobby at the Park Inn by Radisson Bedford, to the restaurant at the Park Inn by Radisson Northampton and the stunning waterfront bar at the Park Inn by Radisson York, the look and feel of a number of hotels has been dramatically transformed.
The Park Inn by Radisson Telford is now a real showcase for the brand: £3.2 million has been spent on a complete transformation of the hotel, covering all 153 guest bedrooms, the guest reception and lounge area, the bar, the restaurant and the games room, as well as public areas and the hotel’s health club. Hotels in Bedford, London Heathrow, Northampton and York have undertaken similar works.
Outside these projects, funds were set aside for every property within the portfolio to enhance the curb-side appeal and guest’s arrival experience. Reception areas throughout the UK are being given a lift – with additional consideration being given to the finer sensory elements such as the music that guests hear and the scent in the air.
Functionality, flexibility and ease of use
Functionality, flexibility and ease of use were pivotal in the product development and design phase of the new projects and refurbishments. New elements include:
- Guest rooms that are good for work and play, including bed headboard integrated technology and modular furniture
- A welcome desk, rather than a reception
- Self check-in desks
- The Liv-inn Room – a space to eat, meet and socialize throughout the day and night
- 24/7 food kiosk
- Park Inn by Radisson introduced free WIFI across all hotels worldwide at the beginning of 2013
To complement the new look properties, a number of additional improvements are being made across several areas within the business. From product quality, operations and service delivery, to maintenance and investment, personnel development and regional support structure, large-scale changes and development can be seen across the board. This programme of activity has seen an overhaul of service standards, positively impacting guest satisfaction and RGI performance levels in a number of properties over the last year.
Park Inn by Radisson Glasgow City Centre
To further strengthen the brand’s presence, the 91 bedroom Park Inn by Radisson Glasgow City Centre opened in mid-April. Situated in the heart of the city, the contemporary hotel boasts a strong design element and features including: self-check-in area, restaurant, bar, meeting rooms, on-site gym and an internet kiosk.
Park Inn by Radisson, operated by The Rezidor Hotel Group in Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA), is an innovative mid-market brand. Late 2012 saw the launch of a new competitive concept that further enhances the attractiveness, commerciality and profitability of the brand.
