Since 1995, the Tommy’s Baby-friendly Awards have recognised the vital support that friends, family and health professionals offer couples who suffer a pregnancy complication, or loss of a baby. This year, winners included Birmingham Heartlands Hospital Neonatal Unit who picked up the ‘Miracle Unit’ Award for the outstanding care they gave to a premature baby born at twenty seven weeks, whilst the ‘Courage’ Award went to a Bedfordshire couple who waited twenty one years to become parents.
Recognition for companies
The Awards also recognised corporate companies and retailers who make a positive difference to families’ lives all over the UK, making their everyday needs a priority. This year a record 32,130 parents voted in a wide variety of categories, ranging from best family supermarket to most eco-friendly baby company, and Harvester triumphed in a category that featured many leading UK restaurant groups:
