LIMA London opened in Fitzrovia to critical acclaim in July 2012. The creation of chef Virgilio Martinez and the Gonzalez brothers, LIMA integrates both traditional and contemporary Peruvian cuisine, representing the gastronomic expansion that has taken place in Peru in recent years.
Their special events service launched in March, and now the team has faced the challenge of catering for the prestigious World’s 50 Best Restaurants which took place in London on Monday 29 April.
The annual World’s 50 Best Restaurants lists the top restaurants across the world as selected by international industry experts, and is an event attended by the great and the good from the industry – a ‘major’ evening in the global food calendar!
The menu
Martinez and the team created a bespoke menu for the event, continuing LIMA’s tradition of celebrating the authentic flavours of Peru.
Dishes included: tiradito (hand dived scallops with yellow aji tiger´s milk and red amaranth); Amazonia ceviche (Amazon fish with wild cocona fruit tiger´s milk and sweet roots); and andes uchucuta (avocado with black quinoa, white quinoa “milk” and cancha corn).
Exciting project
Having already catered for a number of impressive clients including GQ Magazine, PromPeru (the Peruvian tourist board), Orient Express Group and The Olympic Committee, the team was delighted to take on this exciting project.
Virgilio comments: “All of us at Lima London were truly honoured to have the opportunity to cook for some of our great friends and new faces from the global restaurant industry. We are strongly committed to offering the authentic flavours and ingredients of our country and we were thrilled to be able to share the culture and magic of Peru at this esteemed event.”
