Calthorpe Estates has exchanged contracts with the owners of the award-winning Warwickshire cocktail lounge and boutique hotel, The Kenilworth, to open up a similar establishment at 18 Highfield Road, Edgbaston.
Stuart and Darren Insall have produced an exciting scheme to transform 18 Highfield Road into “The Edgbaston”, Cocktail Lounge and Hotel. The Edgbaston will include two cocktail lounges serving contemporary, stylish cocktails by award-winning bartenders that will provide guests with a unique 5 star service.
In addition, there will be six bedrooms individually furnished with designer furniture and decorated to the highest standard.
Developing a new centre of Edgbaston
The new venue is a few doors up from the prestigious Simpsons Restaurant and is the first announcement Calthorpe Estates has made as part of its vision to create a centre with more choice of leisure and retail in Edgbaston.
Jayne Herritty, Sales and Marketing Director explained:
“We are working on a master plan that will attract quality operators to build on the fine dining and niche retail we have on offer. There is an opportunity to develop a new centre or heart of Edgbaston around a triangle that runs from Five Ways down Harborne Road, across down Greenfield Crescent and incorporates Highfield Road. We know from the success of the likes of Simpsons Restaurant and the Deli at Edgbaston, that our customers enjoy quality and variety of food and are looking for more destination entertainment options. The Edgbaston will provide an exceptional environment and a unique offer that fulfils all the aspirations for the area, recently voted as one of the best places to live in The Sunday Times.”
Stuart Insall, the owner of the new venture explained why Edgbaston appealed:
“In Kenilworth we have established our cocktail lounge and hotel as a prime destination and believe Edgbaston is the Mayfair of Birmingham. We are friends with Andreas who opened Simpsons Restaurant following his success in Kenilworth and we aim to offer a memorable experience that further enhances the quality of leisure destinations in the area.”
“18 Highfield Road has great potential and we will be adding some stylish décor but retaining the authentic Georgian character.”
Work will start over the coming months with the intention of opening later this year.
