Dulwich’s Crown and Greyhound to add boutique hotel

By James Russell: Dulwich’s Crown and Greyhound to add boutique hotel

April 24, 2013

Planning permission has been granted by Southwark Council to the Dulwich Estate for the well known Crown and Greyhound pub, situated in the middle of Dulwich Village, for:

Refurbishment and extension of existing building comprising erection of rear extensions at basement, ground and first floor levels and external alterations to main building, demolition of existing rear garage and erection of 2-storey building in its place, to provide a restored public house and function rooms and 20 bedroom hotel with associated landscaping and car parking.

The proposal had been well received locally, since there is a lack of hotel accommodation to service visitors to Dulwich picture gallery and the local private schools, which include Alleyn’s, Dulwich College, and James Allen’s.

No date has yet been issued for the start of building works: locals will perhaps be hoping that this will wait until winter, since other pubs in the area are a good distance away!
