ARAMARK has scooped the contract to provide food service to international aircraft manufacturer Airbus across its UK sites at Filton, near Bristol and Broughton, near Chester. ARAMARK is already a food service partner to Airbus in Germany and Spain.
The five-year contract is worth around £25 million, and ARAMARK will take over in late spring from the incumbent, Sodexo.
Initiatives
ARAMARK will introduce initiatives including an increased number of food and drink outlets, refurbished dining areas, a new concierge service, and longer opening hours. Each is aimed at matching the working patterns of Airbus’ diverse workforce, which ranges from manufacturers through to engineers and office-based employees.
It will also design and operate a new main restaurant at the Filton campus in a new flagship building – Barnwell House – currently under construction and due to open in autumn 2013. Barnwell House will consolidate the site’s engineering, design, customer support and other employees into one highly efficient office.

Airbus sites
In the UK, Airbus employs over 4,000 people at Filton and more than 6,000 at Broughton.
Core activities at Filton include design, engineering and support for Airbus wings, fuel systems and landing gear integration. Teams also work on systems, structures, and aerodynamics research, development and test facilities.
At Broughton – where such aviation classics as De Havilland’s Comet and Mosquito were produced – employees assemble the wings for all Airbus civil aircraft, including the new A350 XWB.
