The Malhotra family has spent 4 years buying up properties on Newcastle’s Grey Street, and now its DAV Develoments plans to develop a £15m luxury hotel on the site. The luxury hotel will have 55 bedrooms, and the owners aspire for its standards and luxury to compare with London’s Dorchester
The ambitious plan includes landscaping work on Drury Lane, development of the former Balmbras Music Hall into a venue for weddings and corporate events – also owned by the Malhotra family – as well as four restaurants.
Grey Street is described as architecturally stunning, and the ambition is to revive this area of Newcastle, which is close to the city centre, railway station, and Quayside.
DAV Developments employs around 450 people, has significant commercial property interests, and owns and operates care homes across the North East.
