The Tamarind Collection, the Indian restaurant group, has confirmed its acquisition of London’s Zaika, making this the fourth restaurant in the group.
Zaika will undergo refurbishment later in 2013, and marks the next step in the Tamarind Collection’s expansion strategy, following the opening of Tamarind of London in Los Angeles in 2011. Zaika joins the group’s already established restaurant brands Tamarind of Mayfair and Imli in Soho, extending the diverse range of menus offered within the Collection beyond the classical fine dining at Tamarind of Mayfair and street food at Imli.
Located at 1, Kensington High Street in a grade 2 listed, late Gothic revival Victorian building, Zaika means sophisticated flavours and offers refined yet creative and contemporary Indian cuisine incorporating traditional classic dishes with original new menus.
About the Tamarind Collection
Comprising twenty expertly trained chefs, the quartet of Tamarind Collection restaurants offers a truly authentic taste of India, with dishes derived from across the culinary diverse regions of India.
Since opening nearly 20 years ago, the collection has won the hearts of Londoners with both its restaurants in the capital, Tamarind of Mayfair and Imli in Soho, carrying an established and respected brand with a loyal clientele. In addition, Tamarind has recently opened a very well received branch in Newport Beach, California – Tamarind of London.
In Tamarind of Mayfair, the group boasts the first Indian restaurant in Europe to have been recognised with a Michelin star and it remains one of only six on the continent to hold the accolade.
