Recently, H & C News accepted an invitation from Nibblr, the social dining and networking organisation about which we had written last October. The triple opportunity to meet the founder of Nibblr, experience the ‘process’, and enjoy the cuisine of Le Chinois Restaurant at the Millennium Knightsbridge was irresistible!
So – how does it work? For the full detail, please take a look at our article on the launch here. From the experience last week, it’s clear that the Nibblr organisation ensures that it brings users together with good company over excellent food, allowing people to find new restaurants and book with people of similar interests.
Registration to nibblr is free and table bookings are made online in advance, allowing members to find new connections with a shared interest in food and networking.
Nibblr has already held dozens of dinner events in London, now has hundreds of members, and an expanding number and range of restaurants with whom it is working. The organisation plans to spread to major cities across the UK, with international activity to follow.

Founded by Entrepreneur Neil Rafferty
For those unfamiliar with the concept, or reluctant to enter social occasions, the concept is simple: nibblr is all about bringing online social networks back offline and connecting people over tasty food. So whether it’s meeting new people or catching up with old friendships… good times can and do happen over dinner!
In Neil’s words:
“Eating has always been a social thing, but finding a restaurant is a social experience too.
“We’re trying to bring people together over a shared love of food in a way that is useful and exciting.
The whole process of deciding where and what to eat, organising who we’re eating with, through to reviewing how the night went is why we decided to launch nibblr – we felt there needed to be a place to do all of that online.
“Many of our members use nibblr to dine alone then they meet people with a shared love of food. It’s opening up a new type of dining experience. ”
Does it work?
Nibblr’s experience suggests that it does – and so does that of H & C News!
In effect, we met and dined with ‘media’ people – so there was a ‘shared interest’ – and it was equally clear that our group enjoyed the excellent food served by Le Chinois Restaurant, which offers modern Chinese cuisine in an exclusive setting on Sloane Street, led by Master Chef Chan Kwok, and not only presenting an à la carte menu, but also a dim sum menu, lunch menu and sharing menus to choose from. Conversation thrived, food was enjoyed, contacts made, business cards exchanged…an evening that was enjoyable on many levels once the initial ice had been broken (and good food and drink have always been good ‘ice-breakers’).
Restaurants can get involved with nibblr
For more information about Nibblr, check out the website click here and see some details below.
Nibblr looks set to expand quickly in 2013, so it’s worth making contact now if your restaurant is interested in working with Nibblr and generating new business that could well turn into repeat business – not just with Nibblr, but with those introduced to your restaurant at a Nibblr dinner.
