MasterChef: The Professionals winner, Steve Groves, has been announced Head Chef at the award-winning Roux at Parliament Square restaurant in Westminster, London. Steve joined Roux at Parliament Square in October 2010 as Senior Sous Chef after impressing Michel Roux Jr in the BBC TV series, MasterChef: The Professionals, and stepped up to the position of Head Chef in January 2013.
Steve grew up in Brightlingsea, Essex, and attended the Colchester Institute between 1997–2000 where he took a course in Professional Craft Catering. Steve’s career as a chef has since included positions at Branksome Beach Restaurant in Poole (where he took the restaurant to the finals of Dorset Restaurant of the Year), The Inn at Perry Cabin in Maryland, USA, and the Michelin-starred Launceston Place in London. In addition, Steve has cooked on some impressive stages on the London scene including Le Gavroche, Buckingham Palace, The Ledbury and The Greenhouse.
Located in the heart of Westminster, within a Grade II listed building designed by Alfred Waterhouse, Roux at Parliament Square was opened in 2010 by Michelin-starred chef, Michel Roux Jr in conjunction with Restaurant Associates. It has since established itself as one of the leading restaurants in London. The restaurant, awarded three AA Rosettes, offers a menu inspired by modern European cooking styles and makes use of the best of the season’s produce.
The restaurant seats 56 guests and the Library Room accomodates 10 guests for a private lunch or dinner.
Roux at The Pembury, a bar situated above Roux at Parliament Square, was opened in 2011. The bar is named in recognition of Michel Roux Jr’s birthplace, Pembury in Kent, and provides a luxurious setting in which to relax with colleagues and friends.
