Customers at The Parcel Yard, Fuller’s magnificent station pub at King’s Cross Station in London, were stunned on 30 January to see two unexpected guests at the bar – their Royal Highnesses The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall.
The Royal Couple had specifically requested a visit to The Parcel Yard, the UK’s largest station pub, as part of their trip on the London Underground to mark the network’s 150th anniversary.
They were escorted to the pub by the architect of the new King’s Cross concourse, John McAslan, and were shown a scale model of the station’s new look displayed in the Parcel Yard’s wonderful atrium area for the day.
Richard Fuller, Director of Fuller’s, was on hand to welcome the Prince and Duchess to the pub, and remarked:
“We are honoured that the Prince and Duchess requested a visit to The Parcel Yard as part of their tour of the Underground network.
“We have helped to transform what was a derelict part of the station in a thriving venue and as word has spread wide that there is a great pub just beyond the ‘Harry Potter trolley’, more and more people are paying us a visit. The Parcel Yard stocks a fantastic range of Fuller’s beers but it was just a shame that the time of day wasn’t right for the Royal party to partake!”
