Bedford based brewery, Wells & Young’s has produced a special line of beer called Airman’s Ale as part of a three-year deal to supply military bars across the UK with beers, wines and spirits.
The contract, which is through ISS, the catering, retail and leisure services provider for the RAF, is the largest ever free trade deal for Wells & Young’s. It will see Airman’s Ale, Bombardier, Estrella and McEwan’s lager on offer for personnel stationed in 22 RAF sites and four army sites, and will be available in a total of 82 military bars throughout the UK.
Airman’s Ale will be the newest addition to bars and is exclusively for military personnel. It was given its name by Warrant Officers, Phil Caswell from RAF Brize Norton and Alan “Wiggy” Bennett from RAF Honington as part of a competition that ran at RAF stations.
For every pint of Airman’s Ale sold, Wells & Young’s will also donate 10p to RAFA, The Royal Air Forces Association which offers help and support to personnel and their families.
