Question: what do footballer Gary Neville, tennis player Andy Murray, and The Only Way Is Essex star Mick Norcross have in common?
Answer: all are planning (or are rumoured to be planning, in the case of Andy Murray) to become hoteliers!
The latest news, reported in the Southend Standard, is that work is about to start on the derelict Grand Hotel in Leigh to transform it into a smart new boutique hotel.
After the usual prolonged negotiations with planners, Mick Norcross has secured planning permission for a comprehensive £4.5million transformation back to former glories.
The hotel will now have 20 bedrooms, as well as a spa when it opens in 2014, and the potential to transform the local area.
