Loungers, the Bristol-based cafe/bar and restaurant group, enjoyed the busiest month in its history this past December: year-on-year net sales were up by 48.5% to hit £2.31m (against £1.56m in 2011).
The group also reported that like-for-like sales for the period increased by 4.1%, and that the week beginning 10th December was the busiest single week in its history with net sales exceeding £600k.
The group, who opened their 29th site called Marino Lounge on the 19th December, revealed that its recently opened Cosy Club in Cardiff was its best performing unit in December with net sales of £208k.
Loungers managing director Alex Reilley said:
“We are extremely pleased with turnover in December, and in particular how strongly the five Cosy Clubs traded. To register an almost 50% increase in net sales is great, and we’re pleased with our like-for-like increase for the month, particularly as we had a very strong December in 2011.”
The Loungers success story is set for more growth: their 30th site, Grupo Lounge in the Bristol suburb of Westbury-on-Trym, opens later this month, which will be the first of 12 anticipated openings in 2013.
