Gordon Ramsay back to business – and profit

By James Russell: Gordon Ramsay back to business – and profit

January 28, 2013

The Sunday Times reports that the Gordon Ramsay restaurant operation has returned to profit, after several difficult years of publicity of the wrong sort, including an expensive and time-consuming dispute with his father in law.

His Kavalake company, through which his operations are run, has reported pre-tax profits of £2 million in the year to August 2012 – the previous year had seen a loss of £4.4 million.

Total sales had fallen 6% to just over £43 million, but the UK has increased as the result of openings, including Bread Street Kitchen in the City of London.

The group is progressing expansion, particularly in Las Vegas and Los Angeles in the USA, and also in Doha. It plans to continue expansion both in the UK and overseas in 2013.
