Buying specialist Lynx Purchasing has promoted Rachel Dobson to its board of directors. Dobson, who has been with the company for six years, joins managing director John Pinder and co-founder Howard Pearson on the board.
Pinder said: “Rachel’s experience and negotiating skills are an invaluable asset to the business and we’re delighted to promote her to a board position.
“Rachel’s ability to find the best quality products at the best prices is making a real difference to the profitability of the hundreds of hospitality and catering businesses with whom we work. Her talent is matched by her dedication; for example, she has been spotted in a field before dawn, checking out a new cattle herd on behalf of a client.”
Dobson’s career started with an operations role at Thistle Hotels before moving to Principal Hotels, where she became group purchasing manager. After Principal Hotels was acquired, with Le Méridien Hotels & Resorts, by Nomura, she was given a European purchasing role at Le Méridien. She joined Lynx in 2006.
Lynx now works with more than 1,200 businesses across the hospitality and catering sector, up from around 800 a year ago. The company negotiates prices with leading suppliers on essentials such as food and drink, equipment, disposables, hygiene products and utilities.
