Batemans pub takes new direction

By James Russell: Batemans pub takes new direction

January 1, 2013

Batemans’ music pub in Boston ‘The Indian Queen’ has re-opened after an extensive refurbishment. Now called The Indian Queen and Three Kings, the pub has been taken back to what it would have been in Victorian times, including incorporating the old name ‘Three Kings’ within the new name, ‘The Indian Queen and Three Kings’.

New direction

The pub is going in a different direction from its past, both in style, ambience and offering. It will be an authentic pub which offers traditional values, traditional service and a safe environment.

Lovers of pool tables, television, jukeboxes and fruit machines will be disappointed! However, Victorian style pub games will be introduced.

Food will reflect a Victorian offering or be local such as pickled eggs, pork pie, scotch eggs, local cheese.

Cask ales served in thirds of a pint

There is to be a choice of six cask ales on the bar: two permanent Bateman beers plus other Lincolnshire brewers’ beers.  The lager, cider and stout are all brewed in England, and there will be at least one scrumpy cider. The draught products are to be served in measures of two thirds of a pint and a third of a pint, and jugs will also be served to the tables.

Stuart Bateman Managing Director of Batemans Brewery says:

“This is a really exciting venture for Batemans. We are sure The Indian Queen and Three Kings will represent everything that is good about a pub: community, conversation, cask ale and no mod cons.’’
