Rumours are rife that tennis star Andy Murray may have purchased the Cromlix House Hotel near his home town of Dunblane.

The hotel closed last year, disappointing both local and celebrity brides – it has been a popular wedding venue for many years, and was used in 2010 for the wedding of Murray’s brother Jamie.

Cromlix House was built in 1874 and turned into a luxury hotel in 1981. It has 14 bedrooms and three dining rooms as well as conference rooms, and is sited within its own 36 acres of landscaped grounds, itself located within the 2,000 acre Eden estate.

The hotel was apparently on the market with an asking price of around £2 million, but the estate agents are not commenting, and nor are Andy Murray’s own agents.

After Murray’s recent sporting successes, however, there is no doubt that he can afford the property – whether to run as a hotel, or to return it to a luxury home.

The rumours, therefore, will continue for the time being…
