Third restaurant for ROCK

By James Russell: Third restaurant for ROCK

November 26, 2012

ROCK Restaurants has opened its latest venture in Westbourne, taking over a historical former 18th century Methodist church and creating another unique dining experience in Dorset.

ROCK Westbourne, located in Lansdeer Road, becomes the company’s third venture and combines antique oak panelling blended with fine hand painted wallpapers & luxurious furnishings. A live pianist who overlooks the restaurant & bar from the balcony adds to the ambience for diners as they enjoy the views of the stained glass windows & high vaulted ceilings.

ROCK’S ethos is to serve Modern British Food by Michelin trained chefs, in a relaxed environment without the ‘Pomp and Ceremony’. Like all its restaurants, ROCK Westbourne’s ingredients will be sourced from local suppliers and small family businesses ensuring diners experience the very best seasonal cuisine the region has to offer.

Head Chef, Daniel Small, cut his teeth in a number of the region’s finest kitchens including Shell Bay, is delighted to support this philosophy:

“For ROCK, sustainability comes before profitability which makes sourcing ingredients, and planning menus a much more creative and satisfying experience. This, coupled with a kitchen located in such a dramatic and inspiring venue, makes for a particularly exciting opportunity and I’m really looking forward to what I imagine is just the start of an exciting future with ROCK.”

ROCK Restaurants is the inspiration of top Chef Nick Atkins who has worked at the highly regarded Chewton Glenn Hotel. Working closely with co-founder and wine expert Jonny Townsend, they and their third partner Jeremy Brown, have used their 40 years of combined experience in hospitality, food, drink and events to deliver what they believe is a winning formula when it comes to a successful restaurant business.

Nick, a co-founder of ROCK Restaurants and ROCK Food and Events says:

“We are especially excited about our Westbourne venue given its dramatic and quirky setting. We’ve had a huge amount of fun planning how to use the space to create our signature informal and friendly restaurant environment.  We are confident it has all the ingredients to become a popular local eating spot.”

Patrons are also welcome to come in and enjoy a coffee, or drink at the bar. Co-founder Jonny Townsend:

“We want our customers to feel they can pop in to relax at any time of the day, whether wishing to dine or not. It’s important that our customers feel relaxed and at home and able to bring their well-behaved kids if they wish. We’ll happily welcome anyone who wants to come in and grab a chair and a cup of tea to take a break from shopping, meet a mate for a quick coffee or simply get away from the stress and strain of life to enjoy a good book and a glass of wine!”

ROCK Westbourne is opens 10am to 11pm seven days a week, and features a ‘Chef’s Table’ private dining experience which overlooks the kitchen, and where diners can interact with the chefs as they prepare the food.
