Restaurants signing for London Designer Outlet, Wembley

By James Russell: Restaurants signing for London Designer Outlet, Wembley

November 19, 2012

Quintain has revealed this week that worldwide Peri-Peri chicken restaurant Nando’s is opening its doors at London Designer Outlet (LDO) alongside Italy’s favourite coffee company Lavazza.

The South African restaurant chain has signed a 20 year lease for 312 sq m (3358 sq ft) and is due to open in 2013. It is joined by Lavazza, the high end chain of concept coffee shops, which has signed a 10 year lease for 110 sq m (1185 sq ft).

Quintain has already secured a strong line-up of bars and restaurants at LDO, including Prezzo, Handmade Burger Co, Las Iguanas and TGI Friday’s, with the latter already open. The 32, 516 sq m centre (350,000 sq ft), which is located adjacent to Wembley Stadium and Arena will boast 15 restaurants and bars in total, as well as Cineworld, a new nine-screen cinema seating up to 1,800 people. In July a four star Hilton hotel opened next to where LDO is being constructed.

Quintain has now secured all of the anchor tenants at the scheme with Clarks signing in October to join Marks & Spencer, Nike and Gap.

Phil Cottingham, Head of Retail at Quintain, said:

“It is fantastic to have internationally recognised brands such as Nando’s and Lavazza on board at LDO. Their presence is a major boost to our restaurant offer, increasing the emphasis on creating a leisure and lifestyle destination to complement the strong retail offer.”

Sugar Mill, North London’s first ‘Dessert Lounge’, is open and trading

Quintain has also welcomed the first independent restaurant to its Forum House development at Wembley with Sugar Mill, North London’s first dessert lounge, now open and trading well, joining  T.G.I Fridays which commenced trading in August.

Sugar Mill offers a range of a la Carte desserts, ice creams, waffles and cakes. It also boasts an in-house Boutique where visitors can sample delicacies such as artisan cupcakes, macaroons and cheesecakes. Visitors can also enjoy a glass of wine or champagne in the lounge, which serves alcoholic beverages until 11.00pm.

The proprietor, Tina Munglani said:

“I have always thought that there was a gap in the market for a sit-in patisserie, where you can enjoy a drink with friends while you eat. When I decided to open Sugar Mill I spent time looking at possible locations, but quickly settled on Wembley. Looking around you can see how quickly this area is changing, and the new hotel, student block, and London Designer Outlet when it opens will attract millions of visitors every year. I hope the students, visitors to the Hotel and Arena – and even some football fans – stop in for a drink and a cake!”
