Gourmet Burger Kitchen (GBK) has announced plans to open five new restaurants across the UK before the end of February 2013 as part of its UK expansion drive.
The premium burger brand will open at three shopping centre locations before Christmas: Brent Cross shopping centre on 5 November; the new Vaults development, part of Southgate Shopping Centre, Bath in early December; and Metrocentre, Gateshead near Newcastle will also open in early December.
2013 will herald the opening of two further sites: another in North London this time in The N1 Centre in Islington; also a second site in Birmingham at Brindley Place, a canal side development in the Westside district of the city. Both openings are planned for early February.
New look GBK restaurants
GBK currently operates 53 restaurants across the UK, having opened their first restaurant in Battersea, London in 2001. As part of their current growth and development plan, the look of GBK is evolving with an ongoing refurbishment programme underway. Working with a mix of designers, the new look GBK restaurants include open kitchens and artisan fittings with new designs rolled out to its restaurants in Westfield Stratford, Oxford, Brighton and also to its original site in London’s Northcote Road.
Alasdair Murdoch, CEO, Gourmet Burger Kitchen says:
“GBK has always aligned itself with delivering premium quality burgers in a laid back environment. We started in 2001 and the burger category has developed significantly since then. We want to provide a great experience for our customers and the look and feel of our restaurants is a key aspect of that.”
GBK plans to ramp up its expansion further during its next financial year which starts in March 2013. The ongoing success of the company is a clear indicator that the UK dining scene continues to have an appetite for everything GBK stands for – gourmet burgers in a relaxed and laid back, kitchen environment.
