Tourism in Yorkshire is worth £7 billion annually, employs almost a quarter of a million people, and generates 216 million visits each year: compelling reasons to celebrate the tourism ‘stars’ at the White Rose Awards 2012.
The awards, run by official tourism agency Welcome to Yorkshire, are the biggest tourism awards in the UK, and give the judges a very hard problem to select the winners – take a look at the list below to see the quality venues and operations that fought their way to come out top.
Independent Chair of Judges, Professor Colin Mellors, commented:
“One of the hardest jobs for the panel is deciding who goes through to the final shortlist and who doesn’t. It’s such a difficult call to make, but it goes to show the superb standard that Yorkshire’s strong, diverse and expanding tourism sector has attained.
