The Institute of Hospitality, the industry’s professional body, has announced the appointment of Peter Ducker FIH as its Chief Executive, effective from 2 January 2013.
Peter has served as an Executive Councillor and Trustee of the Institute of Hospitality since 2010. He is currently Executive Director of the Hotel Booking Agents Association (HBAA); Chairman of the Hotel Carbon Index (Carepar); and a consultant to the hotel industry through his own vehicle Roundpeg Resources. He succeeds Philippe Rossiter FIH, Chief Executive since 2002, who is standing down at the end of the year.
Peter said:
“I have been a member of the Institute of Hospitality throughout my career and I strongly believe in the importance of good education and continuous professional development to attract and retain the quality of management that the hospitality industry requires today. I am honoured to succeed Philippe as its Chief Executive and look forward to steering the Institute through a new chapter in its history.”
Peter is a graduate of Oxford Polytechnic (Oxford Brookes University). During a distinguished career he has attained broad, high-level experience in hotel sales, marketing and distribution and held directorships at a number of hospitality companies (Sarova Hotels; President Entertainments; London Park Hotels) and distribution and sales operations (Resotel Limited). In both 2010 and 2011 he was voted in the top 50 “most influential people in the meetings and events industry” by the readers of C&IT Magazine. He is married with two grown-up daughters.
