Nicholson’s seasonal celebration with Autumn Ale Festival

By James Russell: Nicholson’s seasonal celebration with Autumn Ale Festival

October 23, 2012

22 October – 18 November 2012

In three years, cask ale sales at Nicholson’s have grown from 11% of total drinks sales to 20%. Now, Nicholson’s pubs are hosting their first Autumn Ale Festival, stocking a feast of seasonal ales across their iconic and historic pubs.

Running from 22 October to 18 November, the Autumn Ale Festival will serve guests the very best of award winning real ales and new to market brews: no fewer than 60 cask ales will be on rotation across all 80 Nicholson’s pubs. Many pubs will be extending their regular range of 12 casks to over 20 autumnal ales during the Festival.

The ales have been specially selected from some of the country’s finest microbreweries, including Halloween Ales and beers exclusive to Nicholson’s.   The exclusive ales are brewed by Netergate Brewery, and are named after the brand’s founder William Nicholson.  Customers can sample ‘Three Mills Pale Ale’, named after the distillery that William Nicholson owned until 1941 on the River Lea or enjoy a pint of ‘Lamplighter’ beer named in tribute of the most popular gin Mr Nicholson produced.

In keeping with the season, and because the Festival falls on Halloween, Nicholson’s will add three Halloween Ales to its list – Wychwood Hobgoblin, Adnams Ghost Ship and Brentwood Spooky Moon.

Cask Ale Club

As part of the Festival, Nicholson’s are also launching a new Cask Ale Club (www.nicholsonspubs.co.uk/caskaleclub).  On becoming a member, guests will receive a welcome pack and will in future be the first to hear of all cask ale news in Nicholson’s, as well exclusive offers.
