Guest Experience, children count too…Just Ask Alfred

By James Russell: Guest Experience, children count too…Just Ask Alfred

October 16, 2012

The Front of House and Concierge teams at the Millennium Hotel London Mayfair receive many letters from guests, thanking and praising them for their dedication to duty, friendliness and attentive service. The hotel has 336 rooms and runs at very high occupancy, from its popular location on Grosvenor Square.  It is a very busy job for the active Front Of House team who are always smiling and dealing with clients, from early morning until late at night.

Nic Lander, Head Concierge has been advising hotel guests on what to do and see in the capital for 25 years and he still adores his role. Nic knows London like the back of his hand and has helped many different guests, including pop stars, sports personalities and even royalty.

As Nic told Hospitality & Catering News earlier this week, in the UK there are established rules for almost everything.  The English are very time-oriented and often become anxious about deadlines and results. Therefore punctuality is key.  Business travellers should confirm appointments once they arrive in the city and allow plenty of time to reach their destination, as transport around the capital can be very unpredictable.  He knows all the best pit stops in London for entertainment, and believes that if you have a sense of adventure, exploring our great city can be such fun.  Nic and his team are on hand to advise where to go and how to get there, and if guests wish to walk, they are happy to suggest a safe route, and provide guests with a map.

Nic runs the recently introduced ‘Ask Alfred Children’s Concierge Service’, which aims to make children staying at the hotel immediately ‘feel comfortable and at home’. Children booked on the package receive a selection of in room amenities, including jelly beans, specially designed dressing gowns, slippers and child friendly products, as well as an ice cream on arrival. Parents receive a ‘London Survival Guide’, which is an A-Z of tips and useful information.

PR Manager at the Millennium Hotel London Mayfair, Annie McKale, recently received a telephone call from a client, who had been told by a friend’s 10 year old son that his perfect day in London would be, a visit to M & M World, loads of ice cream and then a stay at the Millennium Hotel London Mayfair, “cos they give you great treats, a dressing gown and everyone is so friendly” I think this speaks for itself.
