Gary Neville, the former Manchester United and England footballer, opened the proceedings at yesterday’s Annual Hotel Conference 2012 in Manchester – and revealed his ambitions in the hotel industry.
As previously reported in H & C News, Gary Neville has taken a strong position on sustainability since retiring from football, and has also announced his plans for a 140-bed hotel just yards away from Old Trafford – on schedule to open in February 2013.
The hotel expects as many as 1500 supporters on match days, but will not be ‘Manchester United themed’ and will welcome all football supporters.
In front of an audience of hoteliers, Neville presented an assured, impressive figure. Whilst admitting to ‘nerves’ about the hotel – he likened it to his debut at Manchester United – Neville also revealed that it could be the first of many more: next February’s launch will certainly attract industry interest!
