3 steps to profit from restaurant technology

1 – Sweat those assets: increase your table turnover

Are you getting the most out of your assets?  Do you turn tables fast enough?  Could you serve more customers?  Here’s how clever technology can make your assets, from the tables to the bar to the kitchen, work even harder.

An empty table makes no money.  Seating your guests faster means they order, eat and leave sooner, increasing income. That’s why tables need to be cleared and re-allocated to new diners as soon as possible.  Technology can help you turn tables faster and generate extra profit.

Seating guests more quickly also means that queues don’t build up in the reception area, which can lead to congestion and lost business when customers who don’t want to wait go elsewhere.

Using communications technology to enable all your tables to be used at maximum capacity could generate anything from 5% to a staggering 40% increase in takings.

Here’s how:

A typical restaurant has a six hour busy period on three or four days a week with an average dining time of 50 minutes.

If tables are in use for 50 minutes and idle for 10, each table can turn over six times in six hours. If tables are in use for 50 minutes and idle for only one minute, tables can turn over seven times.

For a restaurant with 30 tables, this is 30 extra table turns per day.

With two guests dining at each table with an average spend of £15 each, this is a potential additional income of £900 on every busy day, potentially £2,700 or £3,600 per week.

The technologies that can deliver this additional revenue include queue and capacity management and staff paging systems. Request our guide.
