Britain’s Strongest Man helps launch King’s Feast meals for TCG

By James Russell: Britain’s Strongest Man helps launch King’s Feast meals for TCG

September 14, 2012

Managed pub and bar operator TCG called in Britain’s Strongest Man to help launch its ‘big value’ King’s Feast menu at the Royal Victoria & Bull in Dartford. Terry Hollands, a Dartford resident, tucked into a Cow Pie – one of the King’s Feast signature dishes– as general manager Delia Dalton and her team served a range of great value meals to customers.

King’s Feast: the menu that builds food sales

TCG designed King’s Feast as a way of building food sales in traditionally wet-led pubs. Initially trialled in two pubs in spring 2011, five pubs already operate the King’s Feast menu and results are impressive, with food revenue at each site growing from below 10% of total sales to an average of 25% post-conversion.

Nigel Wright, TCG chief operating officer, says:

“Despite the pressure on consumer spending, the success of King’s Feast demonstrates that there are customers out there for operators who provide high quality food and drink at a good value price.

“Crucially, the increase in food sales at each site has been achieved alongside a significant increase in wet sales, ensuring that the pubs retain their broad community appeal. We’re not trying to reinvent local pubs as restaurants; we’re extending their appeal to a wider customer base.”

The King’s Feast menu

Highlights of the King’s Feast menu include:

  • Pies – including the Cow Pie – served with a generous portion of fries and peas
  • Sharing platters including chicken wings, nachos and onion rings
  • A wide choice of steaks,  toad in the holes, burgers, sandwiches, salads and jacket potatoes
  • A children’s menu allowing kids to eat for just £1.50 from Monday to Thursday
  • Fish and Chip ‘Fryday’ offering a lunchtime meal for £3.95
  • Sunday Roast starting at just £7.65

In addition to the Royal Victoria & Bull, the five pubs offering the King’s Feast menu are: The George Staples, Sidcup; The Kings Arms, Morecambe;  The Molly Millar, Wokingham;  The Parrswood Hotel, Manchester; and The Sugar Loaf, Dunstable.
