A Mad Cat on Shepherd Neame’s doorstep?

By James Russell: A Mad Cat on Shepherd Neame’s doorstep?

September 6, 2012

After 300 years of brewing in Faversham, Britain’s oldest brewery – Shepherd Neame – may find it has some new local competition:  Mad Cat Brewery.

In December 2012, Mad Cat Brewery plans to move into a newly renovated Brewhouse at Brogdale Farm in Faversham, Kent that will be set up alongside the home of the National Fruit Collection, a garden centre, craft shops, restaurant and quality food outlets.

Mad Cat Brewery, run by Peter Meaney, intends to create a range of delicious Real Ales, including Meaney’s Copper Auburn Ale, Meaney’s Jet Black Stout, Meaney’s Platinum Blonde Ale and Meaney’s Golden India Pale Ale.

It looks like Faversham could be home to some outstanding beers. Shepherd Neame is famed for the excellence of its range, whilst Mad Cat aspires to exciting new beers – if the beer lives up to the graphics, it will be well worth a visit!
