Chardon to build 125 bedroom hotel at Edinburgh Airport

By James Russell: Chardon to build 125 bedroom hotel at Edinburgh Airport

August 2, 2012

Ingliston Hotels, a division of Glasgow-headquartered Chardon Trading, has won planning approval from Edinburgh City Council to build a £15 million 125 bedroom hotel at Edinburgh Airport.

Located near to its sister 95-bedroom Quality Hotel Edinburgh Airport, just five minutes by airport shuttle bus from the terminal building, the hotel will be aimed at the luxury budget market and is anticipated to be operated by Chardon Management under franchise from a major international hotel brand.

The new hotel marks the latest stage in the development of the Edinburgh International initiative, which aims to transform a massive area of West Edinburgh into Scotland’s Global Hub by building on the existing strength and future growth of the airport under new owner Global Infrastructure Partners to establish a new city quarter.

The hotel is the brainchild of Chardon Management founder and chief executive, internationally known hotelier Maurice Taylor, who also operates the Holiday Inn Express on Edinburgh’s Royal Mile.

Chardon Management currently manages 35 hotels and seven health and fitness clubs throughout the UK encompassing such leading global brands as Indigo, from InterContinental Hotels Group, Doubletree by Hilton, Best Western & Choice Hotels; Holiday Inn and Holiday Inn Express as well as many independent properties under their own unique brand.

Chardon Management’s own brand portfolio comprises: La Bonne Auberge; Limelight Bar & Grill; Triangle Health and Fitness; Tri Health & Beauty and Hoteldeals.co.uk – all of which benefit its hotel owners.

Chardon Management employs 50 staff directly whilst its portfolio of managed hotels employs about 2500 staff. The turnover of its managed hotels portfolio is £163 million. It intends to expand its portfolio by 10% per annum by actively seeking further hotel management contracts with developers, investors and administrators.
