This week’s Restaurant of the Week is North Road, Clerkenwell, London and courtesy of Great British Chefs
North Road with its refined Scandinavian design and gastronomy is riding the crest of a wave of all things Nordic. Headed up by talented Head Chef Christoffer Hruskova, the restaurant duly won a Michelin star in 2011, accruing acclaim for its use of local ingredients and fresh elegant dishes.
Competing with Fergus Henderson’s St John on the St John Road (Clerkenwell), North Road manages to hold its own by offering diners the traditional Scandinavian eating experience, albeit, using primarily British produce and modern flavour combinations.
Foraged ingredients sourced locally include wood sorrel, wild elderflower and Douglas Fir – it may sit on the bustling St John Street but this is a restaurant with nature at its heart.
