Next citizenM project attracts fierce bidding

By James Russell: Next citizenM project attracts fierce bidding

July 16, 2012

As recently announced, citizenM has not only recently opened its first London hotel at Lavington Street, near the Tate Modern (as reported in H&C News on 11 July – click here ) but has three more in the pipeline including one at Holborn, and another at Trinity Square, EC3.

CitizenM London St Paul’s will anchor a mixed development on the Citicape House site at 61-65 Holborn Viaduct, close to Smithfield Market.

The 246-bedroom hotel will be part of a joint venture redevelopment with site owners CHIL that will comprise basement, ground and lower ground floor levels with eight upper office storeys and ten upper hotel levels.

Not surprisingly at a time when major building projects are in short supply, as are clients that plan further developments, it is attracting fierce competition from a list of bidders that includes leading contractors such as Balfour Beatty, Kier and Skanska.

Construction is due to start in early 2013.
