The Hook Norton Brewery has revealed its new corporate identity, designed to establish a consistent look and feel across its brands and help the long-established brewery to deliver against the expectations of its customers in a highly competitive market.
James Clarke, Managing Director (Brewing) commented:
“We see this new corporate identity as a very positive step in helping to build the profile of Hook Norton beers and brewery and enhance our reputation as a brewery of stature with an award winning portfolio of ales.”
The new corporate look
The new corporate identity draws on the Hook Norton Victorian heritage to present the logo in a clean, contemporary way. The ‘scroll’ within the logo makes reference to the Victorian era from a visual perspective with the words Hook Norton Brewery now being rendered in a contemporary and highly legible typeface. The new corporate colour has been chosen to reflect the copper that is used within the brewery building. Finally, a new strapline has been introduced which reinforces both the brewery’s regional position and the ‘handcrafted’ nature of our beers – ‘Handcrafted in the Cotswold Hills since 1849’.
Restructuring the beer portfolio
Alongside award winning core beers Old Hooky and Hooky (previously Hooky Bitter), the Hook Norton range of Seasonals is being restructured to create a choice of great ales all year round.
While many of the brands remain unchanged, Hooky Bitter will now simply be known as Hooky and Hooky Dark reverts to its original name of Mild. Hooky Gold will return to its previous seasonal availability, making way for a new brand which will focus on the mid-range 4.0% ABV market – wait for details when it is launched later this year!
Pump Clips & Bottle Labels
One of the most prominent elements of the rebranding is the pump clip: designed to provide great visibility on the bar, they have a unique, slightly curved ‘beer glass’ shape, topped with the ‘Victoriana scroll’ (here designed to reflect the head of a pint of beer).Their distinctive copper edging is redolent of the copper used throughout the brewery building and creates great differentiation from other clips on the bar. Finally, there is a visual image of the iconic Hook Norton brewery building in its beautiful Cotswold Hill setting.
Seasonal clips continue the theme, featuring the core ‘beer glass’ shape with the copper edging combined with an illustrative representation for each seasonal beer.
In addition, bottle labels are also closely aligned to the overall design styling of the clips – ‘beer glass’ shaped for the front label, with a gilt copper edging and illustration of the brewery in a copper tone.
Consistent look and feel
The aim is to create a consistent look and feel for the brand, across everything. The new pump clips and bottle labels have already been introduced, and all new merchandise and literature now features the new identity. Pubs will have new clips, bar towels, runners, glassware and beer mats and, over coming months, they will gradually have their signage replaced to reflect the new brand.
