£23.8 million was spent on asparagus in 2011, proving that Brits love the spear-shaped vegetable. And as asparagus aficionados will testify, young British asparagus is among the tastiest and most nutritious in the world. So it’s great news that British asparagus season is just two months away.
To celebrate this, Boyds Brasserie will be creating special asparagus dishes designed to showcase the glorious vegetable’s flavour and freshness. This will include: Young British asparagus with Cumbrian air dried ham, poached hens egg and truffle hollandaise (£9.50) or with a glass of English Primrose Hill Bacchus (£15.95.)
The exclusive dishes will be available from 3 May 2012 and continue throughout the 8 week season until 30 June 2012.
Situated in a Grade II listed building just off Trafalgar Square, Boyds Brasserie specialises in serving modern British cuisine with innovative twists. The à la carte menu features exciting dishes such as “British Tapas” and a “Pie and a Pint” of wine, for two to share.
We are overdue to review this restaurant, but may just hang on until 3 May to try the asparagus!
