Wide array of stylish new London hotels opening in 2012

By James Russell: Wide array of stylish new London hotels opening in 2012

January 26, 2012

Last year we saw many new London hotels open, mostly in preparation for the 2012 Olympic Games. This year we can see even more, many of which are significant in one or more ways.

The openings scheduled this year include the reinvention of the venerable Cafe Royal, a London hotel with more history than most as it was here that Oscar Wilde infamously hallucinated on absinthe and courted Lord Alfred Douglas.

The Bulgari in Knightsbridge due to open in April was designed by fashionable Italian architect Antonio Citterio and on the theme of high profile architects Sir Norman Foster is working on the Me by Melia on The Strand.

This is only a small selection of what’s new and opening in London this year, for a fuller picture with lots of links to these new hotel opening please visit The Guardian – London hotels: new kips on the block
