Boyds Brasserie, situated in Northumberland House, a Grade II listed building just off Trafalgar Square, has recreated a cocktail designed by the “playboy” Prince of Wales (King Edward VII). The “Edward and Wallis” cocktail celebrates Boyds Brasserie’s connection to Madonna’s “W.E.” film, which launches in cinemas nationwide on Friday 20 January 2012.
The famous tale of love and royal scandal between King Edward VIII and divorcee Wallis Simpson needed an opulent setting, and Madonna identified the stunning ballroom adjacent to Boyds Brasserie as the perfect location. The majestic venue has been heralded as one of the finest examples of Victorian architecture in London.
The decadent cocktail was originally composed by the Prince of Wales in 1860, and Boyds Brasserie will be closely following the Prince’s original recipe:
THE “Edward and Wallis” COCKTAIL
· 1 1/2 oz. (4,5 cl) Rye
· 1 oz. (4 cl) Champagne
· 1 small cube pineapple
· 1 dash Angostura bitters
· 1/4 tsp (1,5 cl) Maraschino liqueur
· 1 tsp (1,5 cl) sugar (or simple syrup)
The royal cocktail will be available as of Friday 20 January 2012, priced at £10.50.
Boyds Brasserie perfectly combines the old-school glamour of towering marble walls and Victorian chandeliers with contemporary art deco furnishings to create a truly stylish venue.
