Restaurant review, The Goods Shed, Canterbury

By James Russell: Restaurant review, The Goods Shed, Canterbury

December 21, 2011

Its great to go out at Christmas and not be “force fed” Turkey! At The Goods Shed in Canterbury the supper menu changes twice a day and not a slice of turkey or mince pie in sight! As billed it’s a Restaurant, Daily Farmers Market and Food Hall, and supper is great.

A choice of 5 starters, 5 mains and 5 desserts, all seasonal, local food much of it sourced from the market itself.

As a starter the Scallops, Jerusalem Artichoke Puree and Chorizo was bursting with flavour delivered from the perfect size juicy scallops, creamy puree and the bite of chorizo.

As a main Thornback Ray, Capers and Parsley was perfectly cooked with the fish having perfect texture.

For a plate salesman the only problem for me is they use an entertaining miss match of antique chinaware, everyone else thinks it adds character but its doing me out of a job!

So a big thanks to Head Chef Patron Rafael Lopez and his team, Petr, Anna and Zo for a great meal with easy friendly service!

Our thanks once again to Nick Green, National Sales Manager, Villeroy & Boch Hotel & Restaurant for his time and valued opinion
