Casa hotel in Chesterfield celebrates its 1st birthday at the end of November – and can look back on a year in which it has exceeded expectations and won countless accolades.
The hotel not only achieved the 4* AA rating it was aiming for, but went that bit further by gaining the highest AA merit score in Derbyshire as well as being ranked higher than any other hotel in Derbyshire by TripAdvisor.
The Derbyshire Times Awards also named the architecturally striking hotel as the most Innovative Building while its owner, Steve Perez, won Entrepreneur of the Year. Casa even won the national award for the ‘Comfiest Bed’ in the annual Best Kept Secret Awards by the discount hotels specialist, LateRooms.com.
And, in a year in which it won an AA rosette for its excellent food and service, the hotel’s Spanish-themed restaurant, Cocina, fed 15,000 guests dinner while the hotel’s flagship bar, Barca, served almost 50,000 drinks and sold over 70,000 beers.
Owner Steve Perez said: “We couldn’t really have asked for a better first year of business and, though we are of course over the moon about the AA 4 star rating, Cocina’s AA Rosette and the various awards, it’s most gratifying to see our guest’s positive comments about their Casa experience and seeing them return to the hotel because of an enjoyable first visit.
“Importantly, though, as nice as it is to look back on the achievements of the first year, we need to ensure that we don’t rest on our laurels and instead look ahead to how we can further improve the hospitality and service we offer our guests. We are really excited about 2012.”
‘Casa’ is the Spanish word for ‘home’, and this is at the heart of the hotel’s aspirations with 100 luxury bedrooms complete with state-of-the-art technology, facilities for weddings, 200 free car parking spaces and a number of bars to unwind in. The Spanish theme runs throughout the decor and interiors, to help create a vibrant, warm ambience. The 94 deluxe bedrooms come complete with rain-showers, 32″ flatscreen televisions, Wi Fi, Super King size beds and stunning floor-to ceiling windows.
Its restaurant, Cocina, is becoming an increasingly strong attraction for hotel guests and locals alike.
The 100-cover restaurant serves top-class traditional Spanish tapas and other Spanish-inspired dishes using produce from local suppliers that include owner Steve Perez’s own Walton Lodge Farm.
Guests can also enjoy a wide range of facilities such as the latest leisure facilities in the gym and open terraces. And, with the picturesque Peak District National Park on the doorstep, guests can easily access a host of attractions, including Chatsworth House, Bolsover Castle and the neighbouring towns of Matlock Bath, Buxton and Bakewell.
