The Telegraph reports that an unknown couple from East Yorkshire have stolen celebrity chef Heston Blumenthal’s crown by winning the Michelin Guide’s coveted pub of the year award.
James and Kate Mackenzie won the accolade for The Pipe and Glass Inn, a 17th century pub in South Dalton, a village to the north of Hull.
The couple replace Mr Blumenthal in the number one spot. The television chef won the award last year for The Hinds Head in Bray, Berkshire, which is also the location of his world-famous restaurant The Fat Duck.
