Former von Essen Hotels sold to Bath Priory

By James Russell: Former von Essen Hotels sold to Bath Priory

October 21, 2011

Christie + Co reports that Bath Priory Limited has acquired four hotels from the former von Essen Hotels portfolio that it was instructed to sell on behalf of the Administrators.  The hotels acquired are Lower Slaughter Manor, Buckland Manor and Washbourne Court, all in Gloucestershire, and Amberley Castle in West Sussex. The four have been sold against a combined guide price of £32.5 million.

Chris Day, Managing Director of Christie + Co says: “We are delighted to have sold these four fine examples of country house hotels to such a renowned operator, and we know that they will sit ideally within the portfolio.

“We anticipated a great deal of interest in the von Essen Hotels portfolio and this has been more than demonstrated by the number of offers we have received across the entire portfolio from a variety of national and international investors and operators.

“We are at an advanced stage of negotiation on a number of other former von Essen Hotels, so expect to announce further exchanges and completions shortly.”
