Due to the high demand for hotels near unspoilt rural locations around the UK Travelodge is planning to spend about £135 million expanding in and around Britain’s national parks.
The budget hotel operator said that in the past 12 months it had seen a rise in the number of people staying in or near national parks. This was confirmed from Travelodge hotels that are near the parks achieving much high occupancy levels earlier than usual this year.
Following this trend, the Travelodge property team are looking to identify 37 suitable sites near to 15 national parks. Prime locations include Aviemore in the Cairngorms, Betws-y-Coed in Snowdonia, Grasmere in the Lake District and Minehead on Exmoor.
The new hotels will range from 30 rooms – Travelodge’s new ‘Metrostyle’ hotels – to over 100, location and building requirements will drive each venues specification.
