The development and nurturing of young chefs is a key component in ensuring that the hospitality and catering sector remains dynamic and fresh.
Kraft Foods teamed up with the Craft Guild of Chefs, Sophie Wright and City & Guilds to develop the first ever Philadelphia Young Chef of the Year competition, which aimed to reward the innovation and creativity of talented trainee chefs in full time education aged 17-23.
Four finalists were selected from among the entrants who uploaded recipe ideas to the website in the first round of the competition. They were then invited to a cook-off to prepare their dish in front of the judges within one hour.
