Marriott and Bulgari feeling bullish about new Knightsbridge hotel

By James Russell: Marriott and Bulgari feeling bullish about new Knightsbridge hotel

July 4, 2011

Marriott and Bulgari’s new designer-brand luxury hotel will open in London’s Knightsbridge next year and the owners are feeling rather bullish about its prospects.

That is because the Bulgari Marriott hotel will be one of the first designer-branded hotels to be opened in the UK.

It follows the success of Bulgari hotels in Milan and Bali with the designers signing an affiliation agreement with the luxury division of the Marriott group.

“We believe that on the market today there are either classic luxury hotels, which have a very traditional design and atmosphere,” explained the group, “or trendy hotels with very innovative designs, which do not fall into the luxury sector.”

The new London Knightsbridge hotel will feature a total of 85 rooms and seven suites each measuring over 200 square metres.

And the luxury Bulgari hotel also boasts a range of luxury extras from a ballroom and indoor pool, through to a spa, fitness centre and even a private cinema.

Bulgari are hoping that the luxury hotel will appeal to travellers and Londoners alike who appreciate luxury experiences and will view it as “the place to be seen”.

“Bulgari appeals to the traveller who seeks a luxury experience in a contemporary style. Our hotel guest rooms are fewer in quantity than other luxury hotels so that we can increase the quality of the guests’ experience,” a Bulgari representative added.

If successful, the Bulgari hotel could be the start of an influx of luxury hotels in London.

Armani already own luxury hotels in Dubai and Milan, whilst Versace also have designer hotels in Dubai and Australia.

And with London quickly becoming one of the most affluent and expensive cities in the world, it could be a case of sooner rather than later.
