Heston Blumenthal and Rhubarb Food Design have agreed an ‘exclusive relationship’ to work together collaboratively across some event catering projects.
The new partnership will see Blumenthal and his development team work alongside Rhubarb on technical and creative aspects of the business, creating new menus and experimenting with ideas on food presentation.
Commenting on the new collaboration Blumenthal said, “this opens a whole new world of creative opportunity, restaurants, by nature, have limitations and I have wanted to work with a company like Rhubarb for some time. The more we talked and discussed ideas and opportunities, the more obvious the synergy became between us. There are some fantastic avenues to explore and an enormous amount of fun ahead of us.”
Rhubarb chairman Clive Beharrell said it was Blumenthal’s “creative and unique” approach and his “synergy” with the brand that drew them together. “For a long time now we have taken inspiration from chefs throughout the world. However time and again we found ourselves coming back to Heston,” he said. “Heston’s expertise will bring an exciting new dimension and flavour to this sector.”
Blumenthal isn’t the first celebrity chef to get involved in event catering. Jamie Oliver launched his own event catering firm Jamie’s Fabulous Feasts in May last year. As recently reported in Hospitality and Catering News Fabulous Feasts has got together with organisers Industri Management.
Earlier this week Heston Blumenthal, Honorary President of the Academy of Culinary Arts (ACA) was on hand to help announce the three overall winners at the ACA’s 2011 Annual Awards of Excellence
