A conservative peer is looking to create 150 new jobs through a new Heathrow hotel joint venture.
Scottish businessman Lord Laidlaw has teamed up with Rokeby Developments to build a 342-room hotel in Longford, subject to approval by Hillingdon Council.
Adrian Goodall, Rokeby’s managing director, said: “Following considerable consultation with the local planning officers, we hope we have created an enhanced scheme which will sympathetically create new employment and public amenity for the attractive village of Longford and the surrounding area.”
The amended plans for the hotel, in Bath Road, were submitted last month, after the original design for a 498-room hotel was adjusted to improve the relationship with the historic character of the village and the adjoining Green Belt.
Neighbouring buildings, such as the Grade II listed The Stables, will be retained, and vacant buildings on either side of the hotel will be redeveloped to provide three-bedroom houses.
