Acting on behalf of F.L Taylor, C.P Dempster and A.J Davison of Ernst & Young, Joint Administrators for W G Mitchell (Guernsey) No.9 Limited, Christie + Co has sold the freehold of the Park Inn St Helens, Linkway West, to Balaji Hotels, for an undisclosed sum, off an asking of £4 million.
This 84-bedroom hotel comprises a 40-cover bar; 100-cover restaurant, five function rooms with total capacity for 400; and a 150-space car park.
Purpose built in 1992, the St Helens property, which dominates a strategic location between Liverpool and Manchester in the very heart of one of the world’s leading industrial and domestic glass making regions, was designed and constructed to a high specification with a striking central atrium.
The Park Inn St Helens is the third hotel acquired by Balaji Hotels since its launch in 2009 and the third the company has purchased through Christie + Co, following its acquisition of the Kettering-based Comfort Hotel and the George Hotel.
Jeremy Jones, Director at Christie + Co, said: “This latest substantial sale by Christie + Co is further proof that the regional UK hotel market is functioning. As long as buyers are realistic about their pricing aspirations, funded buyers will perform. The sale of the Park Inn St Helens, with Park Inn retaining the branding of the hotel, is the latest deal Christie + Co has completed in one of their busiest Decembers for many years.”
