Restaurant automation, the future of foodservice at Restaurant Show

By James Russell: Restaurant automation, the future of foodservice at Restaurant Show

October 5, 2010

Restaurant Show, Stand C51, October 11-13, London Earls Court 2

Restaurant and kitchen automation systems are fast becoming essential for busy, profitable restaurants.  At the Restaurant Show 2010 Call-Systems Technology (CST) will show the ConnectSmart Restaurant Automation solution, developed in the USA by QSR Automations®.  ConnectSmart uses sophisticated software that brings new levels of efficiency, food quality and customer service, connecting front-of-house to back-of-house seamlessly.

At the core of the ConnectSmart system is ConnectSmart Kitchen (CSK), a graphical display system that organises food orders in the kitchen.  Using vivid, easy-to-understand graphical displays and information from waiting staff, it automatically assigns meal make-up tasks to individual chef workstations, so that all the food for a table’s order is ready at the same time.   The system speeds up ordering, enhances food quality, cuts food waste, reduces working stress and streamlines food preparation.

CST will also launch a new, advanced customer call pager system on Stand C51.

Restaurant Security

New iPhone & Blackberry App gives remote access to CCTV

CST’s specialist security division, Security-Systems Technology, will showcase its hi-tech solutions designed to protect your staff, your customers and your business.

Access control is becoming a big issue for all hospitality businesses.  SST offers a range of access control systems using a variety of technologies including swipe cards, proximity tokens, PIN keypads and biometrics.  For example, SST’s ‘Proximity’ Access Control is demonstrated at the Show.  As well as ensuring that only authorised personnel can enter controlled areas, Proximity lets them through quickly – enhancing safety, security and efficiency all at the same time.  Staff simply hold the Proximity card or keyfob near the small door controller to gain entry.

Staff ‘time and attendance’ is another major headache for restaurateurs, especially with numerous shift patterns.  SST’s simple-to-use, practical solutions guarantee absolute integrity.  Using the latest hand-scanning, biometric technology, the system will allow staff to clock in and out simply by placing their hand on a compact scanner.

Other SST security products being demonstrated live on stand C51 include CCTV and Intelligent Video Analytics, a system that (amongst other features) can automatically monitor empty areas and warns of unusual behaviour; and CCTV EPOS, which links directly into the site’s EPOS and prevents cash till fraud.  The company will launch a new remote access App for CCTV, available for Apple iPhone and iPad and Blackberry.

Champagne Draw

Visitors to Stand C51 can enter a free prize draw for a bottle of champagne, courtesy of CST.
